Connection FAQ

Questions about
your connections

Which connection package should I choose?

Every package includes the same 4× TRS connection bay. What differs is what comes next to the power inlet.

Essential covers a straightforward board: input, output, an FX loop or amp switching. TRS adds one more jack, which is what you need for the four-cable method, an expression or volume pedal, or amp switching alongside your other connections. XLR adds two balanced outputs, for modelers and multi-FX going straight to a mixer, PA or audio interface.

Not sure? Take the package closest to your setup, or request a custom layout before you order.

Can I add connections later?

Yes. A board without a connection package ships with a blank plate, and that plate can be replaced with a connection package afterwards.

The new panel arrives fully wired, with a plug-in connection to the inside of the board, so you can swap it yourself. Get in touch and we confirm the right panel and its price for your board.

What if my setup does not fit one of the packages?

Then you request a custom layout. Tell us which connections your rig needs (TRS, XLR, MIDI, USB-C or anything else) and we build the panel for it.

We review your setup, check what is technically possible and confirm the layout and the price before production starts.

Can I choose where the connections are placed?

In most cases, yes. Connections can go in either side panel, depending on how your board is laid out.

The final position depends on the board size, the number of connections and the space inside the board. If you need a specific placement, request a custom layout so we can check it before production.

What is the difference between TRS and XLR?

TRS is the flexible one. The same jack carries a mono or stereo signal, a balanced line, an expression or volume pedal, tap tempo, or two switching functions for amp channel switching. It depends on what you plug into it.

XLR is the standard for balanced outputs to a mixer, PA, audio interface or FRFR monitor. It is what you want when a modeler or multi-FX unit goes straight to front of house or to your recording setup, without a DI box on the floor.

Which connectors do you use?

Professional-grade hardware throughout. The balanced outputs are Neutrik D-size XLR connectors, the same ones used in touring and studio installations.

Everything is mounted, wired and tested in our workshop. Engraved labels in the wood, one per connection, are available as an option.
